Happiness is a state of mind, what makes one person happy might not for the next!
When I was a child a TV advert used to express that, ‘Happiness is a cigar called
Hamlet’. Well they would probably face liable action over that statement now? But
seriously though happiness has to be the key to life, if you live a happy life then
you can’t really complain can you?
Simplicity is best as expressed by Ken Dodd, a charater easily forgotten about in
this modern potentially intrusive world. The lyrics of this song are more powerful
to me now than when i first heard them, so i suppose that means something!
KEN DODD - HAPPINESS
Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess I thank the Lord I've been
blessed With more than my share of happiness
To me this world is a wonderful place And
I'm the luckiest human in the whole human race I've got no silver and I've got no
gold But I've got happiness in my soul
Happiness to me is an ocean tide Or a sunset
fading on a mountain side A big old heaven full of stars up above When I'm in the arms
of the one I love
Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess I thank the
Lord that I've been blessed With more than my share of happiness
Happiness is a field
of grain Turning its face to the falling rain I can see it in the sunshine, I breathe
it in the air Happiness happiness everywhere
A wise old man told me one time Happiness
is a frame of mind When you go to measuring my success Don't count my money count
Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess I thank the Lord
I've been blessed With more than my share of happiness
Happiness, happiness, the greatest
gift that I possess I thank the Lord I've been blessed With more than my share of
Happiness means different things for different people, I could be that all important
job you have always wanted, or that dream house, how about a car, money?
These things I would argue are just the insignificant happiness.
What do I mean by that? - Good question I was just asking myself
It’s mind boggling to think that with over 8 billion people on this planet one of
the greatest reasons for depression is loneliness!
This of course may be contributed by many factors.
Do we put to much emphasise on things as apposed to people?
Whilst things and status can make us happy, surely its our relationships with people
and often pets that bring the greatest gift…..
I know an obvious statement huh!
Or as people are we more accepting of loneliness as an inevitable alternative? Personal
emotions such as self-esteem , confidence and simply personality type also factor
of-course along with many others.
It can also get more complex with age and health issues and, this generation is living
longer now it seems.
So many reasons to be happy as support groups and social awareness is very evident
around certain issues.
Sometimes its difficult to be happy for totally understandable reasons,
So if you can’t find happiness right now, how about applying energy in helping others
We all do this, you know, working extra shifts, cutting someone's grass, volunteering
with a charity…it can be a great way to finding happiness again!
